Thank you for thanking me
I pride myself on being a very polite person, especially in places of service (restaurants, drive-thrus, banks, wal-mart, etc.). I once worked at a bank and found that people who were rude or had bad attitudes toward someone doing a service to them were appalling. Anyway, the one problem I've found with my polite demeanor is thanking people who thank me. Seriously. It happened to me today. I was walking out the door to my department, held it for someone coming in, and they said, "thank you." Yes, you are correct, I replied, "Thanks!" Really, Becca? People don't think you're polite. They think you have a learning disability.

I believe "You're welcome" would have been the polite thing to say there, haha.
ReplyDeleteI found myself thanking people for thanking me last night at the Royals game. Or worse, thanking people that had just got done ripping into me for something they were upset about. Like I'm saying "Thank you for yelling and cursing in front of a couple 2 year old little girls who are attending their first Royals game and their awesome father brought them in to get a certificate for them. And thank you for wasting my time on something pointless!" Immediately after I said thank you I thought oh man, the Becca syndrome has struck me!
